Senior Years -Gr. 9 to Gr. 12
At Souris School we have a “top notch” teaching and support staff that strives to meet the needs of each individual student. Our Mission Statement is as follows:
“Souris School will provide a positive, safe environment where individuals can develop personal potential and life-long learning skills for adaptations in a changing world.”
“Dedicated to Children”
About Early Years K-5
The Early Years program focusses on an introduction to school and foundation basics. Our Early Years programs emphasize excellence in reading and math skills. The nurturing environment supports individual learning needs. We also offer P.E., Art, Music, Computer and French. Our discipline system sets forth consistent behaviour expectations.
About Middle Years 6-8
The Middle Years program continues to help children develop academic and social skills. We have an excellent behaviour management system in place to help children grow in a safe environment while receiving rewards for positive choices and consequences for negative choices. We continue with basics as well as French, Art, Music, P.E. and Computers.
About Senior Years Grades 9-12
Souris School offers many educational opportunities to our high school students. They receive a solid academic foundation in Grade 9 and 10 courses and are given the opportunity to focus on career direction in Grade 11 and 12. We offer all core courses required for graduation plus a good range of electives, including Band, French, Art, Drama, Outdoor Ed, Business Education and career experience. We host Interactive Television and Youth Internship Programs.
Parental Involvement
As part of our educational support team, there are a variety of ways for parents to be involved at Souris School, including sitting on our active Parent Council.

These include, but are not limited to: football, volleyball, basketball, curling, hockey, badminton, gymnastics, wrestling, track, yearbook, choir club, intermural sports programs band, drama, choir, travel club and Student Council. The Rural Advantage
As you look for a new home and school for your family, we ask you to consider Souris School’s advantages: (i) the education is individual, (ii) staff and community people get to know your children on an individual basis (A big advantage over the less personal larger school), (iii) class sizes are reasonable with respect to current educational standards, and (iv) safety is a high priority.
